The Solar Collector Technology


The solar collector of Solarwave consists of two layers of glass, with a void of vacuum pocket in between that serves as an insulation layer for efficient heat loss prevention, which is a proven concept as used in thermo-flask too. Sunlight penetrates through the transparent outer glass layer and is absorbed by the inner glass layer which features 3 tiers of coating material (ALN/AIN-SS/CU) with low emission & high absorption properties. Thus, the heat energy harnessed from the sunlight will be “locked” within the collector and subsequently transmitted to the Hot Water Storage Tank at an optimum level.

Wider Angel Exposure For Better Solar Absorption
 

Naturally, sunlight emission will change in direction during different period in a day. This will subsequently affect the absorption of solar energy by the system. However, Solarwave's solar collector that are designed in tubular shape will have wider angle of exposure towards sunlight throughout the day, during either morning sun or evening sun. Such enhancement in solar absorption will make the installation of our solar system less sensitive against facing orientation & pitching angle on roof area.

Non-Pressurised Hot Water Storage Tank For Longer Life Span
 
Filling of cold water into the Hot Water Storage Tank, either during first time installation or replenish due to evaporation, will be controlled automatically by a diaphragm filling valve. Thus, no pressure is built-up within the tank and this makes the system life span lasts longer. The pressure from direct cold water supply or pump system is actually towards an Inner Copper Coil within the tank. Hot water stored in the tank is usually stagnant and function as “heating medium” to heat the Inner Copper Coil. Such working concept makes our Hot Water Storage Tank to work as a “Heat Energy Reservoir” that will has the harnessed heat energy preserved better. The tank is built with 1.2mm thick SS304 food grade stainless steel, insulated with 60mm thick PU (Poly Urethane) Foam and finished with stucco aluminium material with operating pressure up to 600kPa (6 Bar).

Designed For Greater Heat Preservation

Solarwave Solar Water Heater has the most unique system design that features an Inner Copper Coil built within the Hot Water Storage Tank. Hot water supply is not drawn directly from the storage in the tank but through this Inner Copper Coil. It is the most crucial component that allows the system to product hot water base on heat exchange mechanism, which will enhance the heat preservation of the system. Cold water is fed into this coil and is heated instantly by the stored & stagnant hot water surrounding it through the natural phenomena of heat exchange when cold water passes through this coil with distance up to 25 meter. Thus, there will be no direct mixing or dilution by cold water with the stored hot water in the tank, which usually cause tremendous drop of hot water temperature after an overnight usage, and prevent the needs to turn on the electrical back-up booster heater regularly.

More Hygiene Hot Water Supplies
 

Hot water supply from Solarwave is through its Inner Copper Coil and is flowed out immediately as identical to pipe-line wate supplies upon user's demand. Such supply method is more hygiene as it is not drawn from storage in the tank, which could be exposed to risk of contaminations & sedimentation from the water source after long term usage.

Working Mechanism Of Solarwave

 
Working mechanism of Solarwave Solar Water Heater is different from the conventional solar panel system. It produces higher amount of hot water volume supplied from the Inner Copper Coil that surpasses the Hot Water Tank holding capacity when the heat energy is preserved effectively base on the heat exchange working principle. Thus, user no longer limiting themselves to a fixed amount hot water that is supplied from storage.
  • During first time installation, cold water will flow into 2 Inlet – one to the Hot Water Storage Tank and the other to the Inner Copper Coil immersed within the tank.
  • In-coming cold water is filled into the Hot Water Storage Tank via a diaphragm filling valve to control the filling automatically to prevent pressurised conditions.
  • The solar collector absorbs sunlight and transfer the heat energy to the Hot Water Storage Tank to heat the water stored within. Such hot water stored is stagnant and will heat the Inner Copper Coil later when needed.
  • When user requires hot water supply, cold water from pump system or direct supply will be fed into the Inner Copper Coil and heated instantly by the stored hot water surrounding it. In-coming cold water will continue to flow into the Inner Copper Coil, converted instantly into hot water through the natural phenomena of Heat Exchange and then supply to user.
  • Excessive heat built within the Hot Water Storage Tank, either due to low usage or hot weather, will be released as vapour via an Air Relief Exhaust at the top of Hot Water Storage Tank automatically. Then, the in-coming water will replenish and fill into the Hot Water Tank again via the diaphragm filling valve.
